The Everett AquaSox will soon begin the construction of a new state-of-the-art video board at Everett Memorial Stadium, the team announced in late May.
The project is expected to be completed near the midpoint of the 2009 season.
Design and construction will be managed by Seattle-based TubeArt. The 44 feet high and 40 feet wide structure, with a 16 feet high and 26 feet wide Lighthouse LED video board, will be placed in left-center field.
Financing for the project was made possible through a six-year corporate partnership agreement.
Working with corporate partners, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Cascade Chapter and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 191, the AquaSox are creating a new sense of excitement for fans this season.
“National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Cascade Chapter and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 191, are proud to serve as the Everett AquaSox Corporate Partners,” said Cindy Austin, Executive Manager of NECA Cascade Chapter. “We are thrilled to be able to brighten up the stadium for the fans!”
AquaSox Executive Vice President Tom Backemeyer said he shares that excitement.
“We’re excited to have this rare opportunity to take the fan experience to another level here in Everett,” he said “We want to thank NECA and IBEW Local 191 for their strong belief in our community and in Minor League Baseball. We are very grateful and proud to be partnering two such wonderful organizations.”
The Electrical Workers Union Local 191 has been a part of this community for over one hundred years, said Dave Howson Business Manager for IBEW Local 191.
“We value the relationships we have forged during this time and look forward to the many new opportunities in the future. This is one way to give back to the community. Our ability to participate with the AquaSox comes from a long standing partnership with the National Electrical Contractors Association; its members; our long term customers in the region such as Boeing, Microsoft, and Providence Hospital — to name a few. This, of course, could not be accomplished without the hard working men and women that make up Local 191.”
The new video board, which will be the largest in the Northwest League, will add many new features to the game-day experience for AquaSox fans.
Cameras will allow for instant replays and increased fan interaction. Several popular in-game promotions will utilize the new technology as well.
The 2009 Northwest League season is scheduled to begin June 20. Season tickets and three different 10-game Power Packs are available now.
