Gallery North presents “New Visions, New Ideas,” a colorful and thought-provoking collection of images captured by Pacific Northwest photographer Sam Spencer. The show opens May 1.
“New Visions, New Ideas” includes a diverse group of photographs from Spencer’s international travels to Italy, Costa Rica, and Antarctica. Each image invites gallery visitors to participate in the adventure of discovery as the photographer reveals the relationship between life’s elements through depth, contrast, and texture.
Spencer, whose work encompasses both pictorial and modernist styles, has been pursuing the art of photography for 40 years. He originally studied photography at the University of Rochester, and has recently been continuing that education at Everett Community College. Spencer’s new work explores the struggle between the industrial and the spiritual, as introduced in this show.
The public is invited to meet the photographer at his gallery reception on Sunday, May 3. Guests will enjoy fine treats and beverages while they browse the display.
Spencer will also be at Gallery North for the Edmonds Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21. Refreshments will be served. “New Visions, New Ideas” will be on display from May 1 through May 31.
