Nicholas receives all-league honors

Shoreline Community College freshman Sunri Nicholas was a first-team, all-NWAACC Northern Division men’s basketball selection.

The 6-foot-10 center averaged 21.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and led the conference by shooting 63 percent from the field.

King’s High School graduate Craig Roosendaal earned the region’s MVP award. The Edmonds Community College sophomore averaged 17.5 points and 6.4 boards per game.

On the women’s side, Shoreline Community College’s Amanda Merkley and Shorecrest graduate Angela Cornejo — now a point guard for Skagit Valley College — were named to the second team.Northern Division men’s basketball
