The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department and Edmonds Police responded to reports Wednesday, Jan. 3, of a man in the Perrinville area who was acting strangely and appeared to have a gun.
The suspected weapon was a plastic cap gun, according to Deputy Rich Niebusch of the sheriff’s department. An identification check was run on the man and he was let go after officers determined he was not a threat.
Officers arrived in the 7500 block of Olympic View Drive at about 8:09 a.m. to find a man who looked to have a gun tucked in his pants waistband. The orange tip identifying the gun as a toy was not visible, Niebusch said.
The man reportedly was talking to passers-by and acting strangely, Neibusch said, “but that’s not a crime.”
