The Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission presents the Jane Mayer exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library now through Dec. 31.
During a lifetime devoted to art, Jane Mayer’s only change has been her medium of choice. Early on in her passion for the arts, Mayer moved from the harmony of music to the harmony she creates on a canvas.
Working primarily in oils and pastels, her inspiration from Northwest scenery, or any subject that intrigues her, has translated into an impressionistic style of realism in which she tries to make the viewer feel the emotion that she puts into her paintings. This philosophy dominates her work.
“I love shapes and the light that gives them form,” Mayer conveys. “My subjects include anything that captures my imagination.”
Living in Richmond Beach with her husband George, her views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains are the source of inspiration for many of her vivid portrayals of the beauty of the Northwest.
Mayer is a member of Women Painters of Washington, Oil Painters of America, Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of the West Coast, Northwest Pastel Society and the Eastside Association of Fine Arts. Her works are on display at the Afishionado Gallery in Seattle and at the Columbia Tower. Examples of Jane Mayer’s work can be found at www.janemayerfineart.com.
