Everyone is coming to your house for the holidays and you want it to look its best. Suddenly you remember that you had planned to get new carpet in the living room or a new hardwood floor in the kitchen before having people in. Is it too late?
Probably not. End of the Roll Discount Carpet and Flooring in Everett keeps several thousand feet of carpet, vinyl, hardwood, laminate and tile in stock for same-day purchase. It has countertops too – perfect for the person who waits until the last minute to get projects done.
“We’re a unique store,” said owner Bill Missler. “Everything here is in stock and you can cash-and-carry. People can come in and take it home the same day. We have thousands and thousands of yards of carpet in good, better and best quality.”
The store also is unique in that it was the first End of the Roll franchise in the U.S. Originally located under an overpass, the family-owned business moved to its spacious site near the Everett Station transit center a few years ago.
Since then, End of the Roll has continued to provide all of the latest styles and designs. It offers products from the big-name quality manufacturers such as Shaw, Mohawk, Camelot and Mannington. The showroom is extremely large and filled with sample books, displays and helpful sales people.
“We have an excellent sales staff,” Missler said. “They’re all knowledgeable about the products and they’ve been here for years. It’s always nice to know that the person you buy from today will be the same person you can talk to tomorrow.”
He said this isn’t always the case when people buy from box stores, where the staff has to sell paint or hardware as well as flooring. Quality and availability of the product can be an issue with box stores as well.
“A box store probably only has about a 1,000 square feet of product actually in stock,” Missler said. “We have 17,000 square feet in stock.”
Some of that stock is destined for homes that are preparing for holiday guests or for New Year’s makeovers. Before dashing to the showroom, take a few moments to get the measurements of your room, not forgetting closet floors. Also, think about the amount of traffic the room receives, whether you have pets, how much you want to spend and your color scheme. These facts can help the staff guide you to the perfect flooring.
“We make sure we ask the right questions,” Missler said. “We’re not going to sell the customers something they don’t want, can’t afford or won’t be happy with.”
End of the Roll carries a vast amount of product choices, from the latest sculpted, textured carpets to long-lasting hardwoods. Bamboo and other renewable or environmentally friendly flooring are currently popular. Vinyl, laminates and tile are all attractive and practical choices for easy cleaning in high-traffic areas.
When it comes to getting flooring installed, many End of the Roll customers choose to save time and money by doing it themselves.
“Everybody here has installed their own floors. Carpet is probably the hardest,” Missler said.
If you don’t want to do it yourself but would like the price and selection at End of the Roll, the staff can recommend installers.
“Whether it’s new construction or a remodel, we love for people to come in and shop,” Missler said.
