An open house regarding a possible urban center at 128th Street SW and I-5 takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at Voyager Middle School, 11711 4th Ave. W.
Snohomish County Planning and Development Services hosts the open house, a follow-up to a similar event held last August about urban land uses and possible center designations at I-5 and 128th Street SW.
Tuesday’s open house will provide area residents the opportunity to review the outcomes of last August’s meeting. County planners will distribute a draft report on that meeting and a conceptual map identifying the possible location of future uses.
Staff will also provide an update on the county’s effort to update its comprehensive plan and it’s relationship to the 128th Street urban center.
The staff presentation will be from 7:15-7:45 p.m., with a question and answer period to follow.
An urban center is a mixed-use, compact, pedestrian- and transit-friendly, higher density area. The area provides public areas such as plazas or parks. A center has residential, retail and/or office uses in the same building or in adjacent buildings. Buildings on the outside perimeter of the center are usually lower in height with the taller buildings located in the interior. The edge of the urban center is designed to fit with surrounding uses.
