This year’s Mill Creek Festival, taking place Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13, is once again jam-packed with activities for visitors of all ages.
Returning to the festival are the classic Corvette and Mustang car shows, the Run of the Mill 5K run, the 3-on-3 basketball tournament, the stroller parade, two stages of entertainment, and vendor booths featuring arts &crafts, food and community businesses and non-profit groups.
The 2007 Run of the Mill is the big kick off to the festival at 9 a.m. Saturday. The 5K run follows a route along the North Creek Trail. Both runners and walkers are welcome; organizers expect to host more than 1,000 entrants from across the state. The top three participants overall and the top three finishers in each age group will receive awards. To register, visit www.mcrunofthemill.com. Entry fees are $15 for ages 15 and up; children 14 years and younger pay $1 per age year. All proceeds from the event benefit Providence Regional Cancer Partnership.
The Corvette Marque Club of Seattle returns to host Saturday’s third annual “All Corvette Car Show” on Main Street with an expected turnout of 150 examples of “America’s Sports Car” for the public to admire. There is a $10 entry fee per car. Lance Lambert, host of television’s internationally broadcast “Vintage Vehicle Show,” will be presenting the awards at 4 p.m.
Mustangs Northwest takes over the car exhibiting on Sunday. On site registration fee is $15 with proceeds being donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Lance Lambert will also emcee Sunday’s award ceremony.
Community Stage performers include the legendary J.P.Patches, local dance companies Reflections Dance and Applause Studio, Dudes &Dolls square dance club, the Mill Creek Music Company and several other local acts.
On the Main Stage the lineup of top local performers including singer Kellee Bradley and Tracy Alan Moore as Elvis.
The Kids Korner will offer various events and arts &crafts activities for children.
This year’s pets presence has expanded into the Pet Plaza, where the popular Dock Dogs competition will give local canines the opportunity to test their jumping and swimming skills. Area animal rescue groups will be on hand all weekend with booth and adoptable dogs and cats. Dog Spa and Biscuit Tasting Bar, free dog nail trims, dog trainers Q&A, and pet artist in action Karen McClellan, will be painting portraits during the festival.
Admission and parking to the event are both free. A free shuttle to the Run of the Mill 5k and Mill Creek Festival will be available both days from the McCollum Park Park and Ride.
