Over-the-top praise makes review almost useless

My wife forwarded to me your publication’s review of Savoyard’s production of “Wizard of Oz.” After reading it, I had to wonder if perhaps the reviewer and I had seen two different theater companies’ performances. Savoyards did a commendable job for the most part, but I would suggest that the reviewer went a bit overboard with the unbridled praises. To say that the set design was “fabulous,” in particular, is being almost laughable.

Most of the cast was of at least good quality, but again I think the praise on top of praise renders the review almost useless, from a practical sense.

Don’t mean to suggest that a review needs to be scathing to be believable, but the nature of this review tends to render it unbelievable for the opposite reason, if you will.
