When you first walk into the family-friendly Ceramic Place in south Everett, you’ll see a wide selection of ceramic pieces you can choose for your artistic adventure.
From butterflies to dragonflies, from piggy banks to kitty banks, from creative cups to unique vases to animal magnets and more, it’s easy for every family member to find something interesting to decorate.
There are lots of fun glazes to choose from for your art project with lots of character names. Some that caught my attention on the shelf were Bluebeard, Teal Next Time, Wine About It, Purple-licious and Jack O’Lantern.
For my first ceramic experience, I chose what a lot of the little kids choose: a small ceramic piece – in my case, a hippo – that could be turned into a refrigerator magnet.
The steps to create your art work are easy to follow: find a table, wash your hands, pick your ceramic piece, select your glazes, use your table sponge to wipe off excess dust, paint your piece three times with a minute or two in between and then paint your name on the back or bottom or write it on with a special marking pen.
After that, place your ceramic piece on the rack in the back, let The Ceramic Place work its magic with the firing process and then come back in a week to retrieve your personally designed treasure.
One thing to keep in mind when painting your art piece is that the color you see is a much more toned-down version than the one you choose from the color chart on the wall.
You’ll end up with the color you selected after the firing process is complete. My lightly colored orange-and-green hippo that I left for processing jumped out at me as bright when I picked him up a week later.
The Ceramic Place also features glass fusion and clay molding, and special celebration days like the upcoming Father’s Day, Pink Day and Chocolate Pudding Day.
The shop offers discounts for Ladies Night, Family Night, Date Night and Paint Till You Faint Night.
And, if you like the idea of painting your art work with your friends or family for your birthday or other special occasion, you can make arrangements to celebrate together at The Ceramic Place.
