Thank you to all the volunteers who made the Veteran’s Memorial Day Parade a huge success! This was Mill Creek’s proudest day, as we honored our military veterans and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Over 3,000 people of all ages lined the parade route from the north end of the Town Center to the reviewing stand near Central Market.
The highlight of the parade was the Massing of the Colors in front of the reviewing stand. This patriotic ceremony combined the flags and color guards of active and reserve military units, veteran’s organizations, civic and patriotic organizations.
Guest speakers included Rear Admiral James Symonds, Commander, Navy Region Northwest, Major General James Collins, Jr., Lourdes Alvarado-Ramos, Deputy Director, Department of Veteran Affairs and Aaron Reardon, Snohomish County Executive.
The Navy Band NW played “TAPS” and “The Navy Hymn.” Naval Station Everett also sent their Firing Party for a 21-gun salute.
The parade was initiated by Fred Fillbrook along with Major Weldon Lee and Major Charles Kerr. These individuals, together with scores of volunteers and our Mill Creek residents made this a fantastic event.
Thank you to everyone for making this an extraordinary Memorial Day!
Terry Ryan
Mayor, City of Mill Creek
