Joseph A. Gogal has become the head of the Mill Creek and South Everett Edward Jones office. “I am confident Joe will continue our outstanding tradition by providing one-on-one service to our clients,” said James D. Weddle, the firm’s managing partner.

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce and its Board of Directors have announced the election of Stan Finley, director of franchising and government affairs for Comcast Communications, as Board Chair for the current term. Finley replaced Barbara Earl, who remains actively engaged as an Executive Committee member and co-chair of the Joint Government Affairs Committee. Finley leads a dedicated board of directors who are engaged in a strategic planning process to positively impact the local economy and business community.

Hotel Services Group, LLC has announced that Sarah Mark has been appointed as general manager of the Holiday Inn Express &Suites in south Everett. Prior to joining the Holiday Inn Express &Suites, she was the assistant general manager at the Holiday Inn Renton.

New Port of Everett Commissioner Mark Wolken was recently seated. Wolken, who was elected by the vote of the people in early November, will serve the remaining two years of the District 2 term. He has a vast background in public service and served on the Port’s Property Advisory Committee, the Everett Planning Commission and County Executive Aaron Reardon’s Citizen’s Cabinet for Economic Development.

Marysville’s Community Development Director Gloria Hirashima and Burien’s Community Development Director Scott Greenberg have been recognized for their leadership by The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and the Puget Sound Section, Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association.

Perteet, Inc, an employee-owned consulting firm specializing in engineering, planning and survey projects recently announced the appointment of Crystal Donner, PE as interim President. The company’s current President, Kevin Weed has resigned his position after a nearly 20-year career with Perteet. Donner has been with Perteet since 1996 and brings over 20 years of experience to this role.

Snohomish County Councilman Dave Somers has been honored with the 2009 Elected Official of the Year Maggie Award. The Magnuson (Maggie) Awards are the annual awards given by the Washington State Democratic Party to honor those activists and elected officials who have done the most in the last year to advance the causes of the Democratic Party.

Professor Manny Juzon will be teaching an interactive International Business course in a new hybrid format for students attending the Columbia College Marysville Campus. Columbia College is transitioning many courses to the hybrid format, where 50 percent of the course is delivered online and 50 perent is delivered in the traditional in-classroom format.

Bob Galteland, a registered professional civil engineer and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional, has achieved certification as a Designated Design-Build. He is president and CEO of Reid Middleton, Inc.

Langabeer McKernan Burnett &Co PS CPA’s have announced that, after 40 years of dedicated service, Kent Langabeer CPA has officially retired as Past President and Founder of the firm. Langabeer started the firm in 1962 in Everett and later expanded to full service offices in Stanwood and Marysville besides Everett. The firm specializes in all types of tax work, estate and trusts, financial statements, audits, and non-profit services.

Gov. Christine Gregoire recently appointed Dr. Julie Miller to serve on the Cascadia Community College Board of Trustees. A resident of Woodinville, she served on the board of governors of the University of Southern California from 2001 to 2009, is an advisor for Junior League of Seattle and Women Business Owners and belongs to the Seattle Rotary. She was awarded the 2008 Women Business Owners Excellence Award.

Snohomish County Tourism Bureau has welcomed Nancy Johnson, executive director of Imagine Children’s Museum, Vern Heitzenrader, general manager of Embassy Suites Seattle North/Lynnwood, and Kelvin Moore, general manager of the Lynnwood Convention Center to the board. Heather Carter is the new convention/group sales manager and will promote the county for meetings, events and conventions.
