People watching: New dean at EvCC

Eugene McAvoy is Everett Community College’s new dean of the college’s Communication and Social Sciences division. Until recently, McAvoy was the dean of Academic Services and first year programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Penn. Prior to that he was an English instructor at Old Dominion University and worked as a nuclear training supervisor for Newport News Shipbuilding.

Alana Nelson, CFO/COO and co-owner of Fire Mountain Solar of Mount Vernon, has been elected treasurer of the newly formed professional business association, Solar Installers of Washington. Nelson founded the Skagit Solar Tour in 2001 which expanded in 2013 to include Snohomish County. Over the past 12 years, she has taught numerous classes and workshops on solar energy.

Skagit State Bank announced that Dennis Boe joined the bank as vice president and residential real estate manager on Dec. 30. A lifetime resident of Skagit County, Boe has 28 years’ experience in mortgage lending. He is now based at Skagit State Bank’s Home Loan Center at 1575 S. Burlington Boulevard in Burlington.

Former Boeing employee Jennifer Beeler recently joined Windermere of Woodinville. Beeler, who had personal experience with the real estate industry during her time at Boeing, said she was excited to pursue real estate as her new career and looked forward to working in her home city of Woodinville.
