A 28-year-old Everett man was stabbed in the back during a weekend party and Mill Creek police are searching for the suspect.

The victim was taken by a friend to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, then transported in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Mill Creek police said.

Police said the stabbing occurred during a large party where drinking was involved early Saturday in the 3000 block of 144th Street SE. Witnesses said a verbal argument between the suspect — a 25-year-old Everett man — and a Bothell man turned into a physical fight.

Party-goers separated the men and the suspect left. He later returned saying he wanted to apologize, then approached the Bothell man, grabbed him and held a knife to his throat, police said.

A 16-year-old boy intervened and disarmed the suspect, who then recovered the knife and, during a scuffle, stabbed the 28-year-old victim. He fled the scene with the weapon.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, of average height and weight with close-cropped brown hair, brown eyes and light growth of facial hair.

Mill Creek police were assisted by Kirkland and Bothell police as well as Evergreen hospital security. They continue to investigate.

Anyone with information on the incident can call Mill Creek police detective Sean Connor at 425-745-1891.
