While firefighting operations at Lake Ballinger Island in Mountlake Terrace are complete, the three-acre island located in the middle of the lake, owned by the city, remains closed. Investigators believe the fire started as a result of an illegal barbecue. Mountlake Terrace Police have identified a person of interest, believed to be responsible for the fire and hope to charge that person in the near future.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF. 24000 block of 28 Pl W. 60 year old male reports someone threw a rock through an upper window of his residence causing approximately $500 damage. He suspects neighborhood teenagers.
AGENCY ASSIST. 23300 block of Brier Road. Assisted aid crew with 8 year old male who had fallen from a zip line. He was transported by aid to hospital for medical exam.
THEFT. 3000 block of 184th St. S.W. Unknown male stole cell phone off a table.
THEFT. 18700 Alderwood Mall Parkway. Males cited for shoplifting.
NARCOTICS. 13600 Hwy. 99. 77 year old male arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Aug. 23
ACCIDENT. 3000 block of 184th St. SW. Hit and run accident. Victim was able to get license place number for the vehicle that hit her.
THEFT. 8700 block of Alderwood Mall Parkway. Female cited for shoplifting.
THEFT. 18600 block of 33 Ave W. Female arrested for shoplifting.
MISSING PERSON. 6500 block of 208th St. S.W. Female reported her brother missing.
DUI. 20000 block of 53rd Pl. W. Male cited for Driving Under the Influence and driving with a suspended license.
ANIMAL. 19300 block 44th Ave W. Cat found wandering around police department, cat has been here on numerous occasions and returned to owner. Today cat was taken to PAWS.
DUI. 16800 block of Hwy. 99. Female arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
DUI. 6400 block 188 St. S.W. Female cited for Driving Under the Influence.
TRAFFIC – PHYSICAL CONTROL. 22600 block of 32 Ave W. Dispatched to a suspicious vehicle. Officer contacted a 22 year old female who had been sleeping in the vehicle which was still running. Odor of intoxicants detected. Citation for Physical Control of a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Intoxicants issued.
TRAFFIC. 21200 block of Poplar Way. 29 year old male cited for Driving While License Suspended and released.
