Hit and run DUI caught
A driver of a vehicle on Lake City Way that Lake Forest Park Police attempted to pull over for a traffic infraction at about 9:30 p.m. on April 2 sped up, attempting to elude police, then collided into a parked car and continued over a median and into the opposite lane of traffic.
The subject then fled on foot and was chased by police. He was apprehended in an alley at the 3100 block of NE 125th St. Officers arrested a 37-year-old male for DUI, hit and run and eluding an officer and booked him into King County Jail. According to police, the man had a no-bail warrant out of Olympia for eluding police and cocaine possession.
Auto theft from non-profit
Someone with a local Shoreline organization was given the organization’s van and credit card to return some children to Ellensburg from the Everett area. According to the police report, the credit card was for gas only and the person was to return by Sunday evening.
By 12:15 p.m. on Monday, April 1 the van had not yet been returned and the credit card had been used several times. The organization called Shoreline police to report auto theft.
Vehicle prowl caught in progress
Lake Forest Park Police were dispatched to a vehicle prowl in progress at about 12:18 a.m. on March 30 in the 19200 block of Forest Park Drive NE. They found 18- and 21-year-old males in a vehicle with the stereo removed. The two subjects were arrested for vehicle prowl and theft from auto and booked into King County Jail.
DUI suspect takes off barefoot
According to the Lake Forest Park Police, at about 3:30 p.m. on March 28 an intoxicated man driving along the 18400 block of State Route 104 drove off the roadway, smashing street signs. The driver took off running on foot, barefoot.
A citizen found the ignition key and handed it to police and pointed out which direction the man went running. Police apprehended him a short time later for hit and run and DUI. The 64-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center for minor injuries to his feet from running barefoot, police said.
According to police he was in violation of a DUI charge out of Snohomish, and in violation of not having the “interlock” — a device required by a judge that won’t let drivers start their car unless they blow into a breathalizer attached to the car.
