Police are searching for an armed man who attempted to rob an Edmonds pharmacy Dec. 7.

Around 3:45 p.m., a white man carrying a handgun and wearing a blue bandana over his face entered the Rite Aid pharmacy near 224th Street Southwest and Highway 99, police spokesperson Don Anderson said.

The suspect walked behind the counter of the pharmacy displaying what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun, a police report said.

No property or drugs were stolen, officials said.

The suspect demanded the drug Oxycontin from two pharmacy employees. The employees told the suspect they did not have access to that drug, before running away, police said.

The suspect followed suit, fleeing through an emergency door exit, triggering the door alarm. He was last seen running eastbound on 224th Street Southwest, but officers had not located him by press time.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a dark hat, blue bandana, dark hooded jacket, dark pants and white tennis shoes. Witnesses estimate he is 5-foot-11.

Police are asking anybody with information to contact the Edmonds Police Department tip line at 425-771-0212. Callers can remain anonymous.
