One of the main tenets of the Port of Edmonds’ mission is to “communicate openly, frequently and consistently” with our public. Over the past decade we have made great strides toward that goal and nowhere is it more evident than in the port’s Web site, www.portofedmonds.org.

Among the scores of things you can find is a history of the port and waterfront. There are plain-language explanations of what the Port of Edmonds actually is, our mission and our long-range plans.

You can find out about the port’s facilities, including moorage and repair, our unique fueling service, how we go about hauling out all those big boats, what goes on in our workyard and how we go to extraordinary lengths to protect the environment from the many hazardous materials associated with boats and boating.

There is information about our hours of operation, which vary from season to season, and just about everything one could want to know about a marina, including our marina handbook, which is available by download, as is the complete text of port regulations.

If you want to see exactly how the port looks at any given moment, there is a live Webcam view available 24 hours a day. The page also shows the time, temperature and provides links to tide charts, forecasts and other meteorological information, much of which will also be available to visitors in our soon-to-link Weather Center kiosk on the boardwalk.

For visiting boaters, the Web site provides information on rates for guest moorage and a number to call for reservations. There are details on the innovative Destination Port of Edmonds program—a great convenience for visiting boaters and a real money-saver as well. For those not arriving by boat, the site gives detailed driving directions on how to get here by car, too.

At www.portofedmonds.org you can find the complete text of all our recent newspaper columns, the annual Port Reporter and our monthly tenant newsletter. There are agendas and minutes of Port Commission meetings, information about the elected port commissioners and e-mail addresses for the commissioners and various port facilities and staff.

For those with a mind for detail, all our budgets and financial reports are published on the site, as is a complete schedule of coming meetings and events.

You can learn about our public boat launcher, which is one of the few places on Puget Sound where boaters can launch boats from trailers without having to back their trailer into saltwater. No boat? We have a complete listing of our charter boat operators and other businesses operating on port property.

There is information about the occasional auctions held at the port, about various bid invitations and awards, employment possibilities, links to current news from the Department of Fish and Wildlife and even a questionnaire where you can give us your input about the port.

Whatever it is you need to know about the Port of Edmonds, our Web site – www.portofedmonds.org – is the place to discover it.
