Recent King’s graduates Cam Jones and Charlie Waldburger have been selected to play in the annual East-West all-state football game June 28 in Yakima.

Waldburger was a first-team, all-league receiver and defensive back and Jones was a first-team linebacker and second-team running back.

King’s coach Jim Shapiro will help coach the West.

“It will be a nice last hurrah for them and a neat honor for me,” said Shaprio, the Chinook League’s reigning Coach of the Year.GILLIES AWARD: The Western Conference 4A has announced its Cliff Gillies Award winners for the 2002-03 school year.

The Shoreline School District honorees are: Shorecrest High School’s Craig Peterson and Haley Martin and Shorewood’s Matt Kristek and Lea John.BERG SIGNS: Shorecrest first baseman J.J. Berg will play baseball for George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., next season.

Berg hit .327 with 16 RBI for the Scots this season and was an all-league honorable mention selection.

George Fox took second in the NCAA Division III West Regional and ended the season ranked No. 14 in the final American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball national poll, its highest ranking ever.
