Public works crew deserves a big thanks

I want to give a big “shout out” to Mill Creek’s public works employees.

Last Friday my son forgot his backpack at the Skate Park. We didn’t realize this until the following Tuesday!

We did run back to the Skate Park on the off chance it might still be there — of course it wasn’t.

Later that day my son was contacted by Officer Smith of the Mill Creek Police Department, who is the resource officer at Jackson High School. He let my son know that his belongings had been turned in by the grounds crew that works in that area. Apparently, they found the items, school books, CDs and even an expensive graphing calculator strewn about the park — the actual backpack was nowhere to be found.

The crew didn’t just find a backpack and turn it in — they had to pick everything up! They turned the items into MCPD who then contacted Officer Smith once they found out it belonged to a Jackson student.

Your crew went above and beyond the call of duty and saved this mom a great expense of having to replace the items — the calculator alone runs about $125.

Thanks so much for employing people with such great integrity. I wish to also convey my thanks to each person on that crew because my son felt so bad about forgetting the items and the crew reinforced a sense of “doing the right thing” to a 14-year-old — that is the best thing that came out of this.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
