PUD website adds features

Snohomish County PUD has expanded its website, www.snopud.com, with added programs, electronic data and new forms.

Popular features include an online bill payment program, job openings and videos about conservation, customer safety and green energy. Its EnergyAdvisor tool gives customers a way to assess their energy use and find answers to common questions about energy efficiency.

Specialty calculators offer information about thermostat adjustments, televisions, appliances, compact fluorescent lights and holiday lighting. An educational Kids Korner provides educational content for students, parents and teachers.

More than 70 videos are available about electrical safety, power outage tips, tidal energy and compact fluorescent lights.

Shoreline enrolling for PLUS 50 training

Shoreline Community College is now enrolling students for the PLUS 50 Career Builder program. The program is designed for those 50 and older who want to return to work, improve job skills or train for a new career. However, all ages are welcome and are invited to participate.

Courses are noncredit and are offered at convenient times, the majority in the daytime and evenings. Classes are priced lower than most courses at other colleges and are all under $100.

MLT tourism grants

More than $23,000 in lodging tax funds are available for grants of projects and events that promote Mountlake Terrace tourism in 2012.

Grants must be used for marketing or operation of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists or to acquire or operate tourism-related facilities.

Applications are available by calling 425-774-6206 or by emailing city hall@ci.mlt.wa.us. They are also available at www.cityofmlt.com on the City Happenings/Community Grant Funds page.

Deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 3.

Chamber forms new arts group

To foster partnerships between the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and the arts communities, the chamber has formed an Arts &Culture Committee.

Inaugural leadership is being spearheaded by committee chair Jack Loos, the chamber’s first vice president, and other representatives.

Health care workers offered school loan

The National Health Service Corps program is now accepting applications for the 2012 Loan Repayment Program.

Primary care medical, dental and mental/behavioral health clinicians can pay down their educational debt and earn a competitive salary, while providing comprehensive care in underserved communities.

MLT plans hearing about license fee

The Mountlake Terrace Transportation Benefit District Board will hold a public hearing following the regular 7 p.m. city council meeting, Jan 3. The topic will be on the potential adoption of a TBD Ordinance to authorize a vehicle license fee of $20. The meeting will be at Interim City Hall Council Chambers, second floor of the Redstone Building, 6100 219th St. SW, Suite 220.
