Registration is underway for the 10th annual Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure June 1 at Seahawks Stadium.
Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds will remain in the Puget Sound area to benefit medically undeserved women, while the remaining 25 percent will be sent to the Komen Foundation’s National Research Program. In 2002, $1.4 million was awarded to grant recipients in the region to fund breast health outreach and education, screening, treatment and support services, clinical trial education and national research projects.
Events include a 1K Tot Trot, 1 mile co-ed walk, 5K women’s only run, 5K wheelchair race, 5K co-ed run, 5K co-ed walk and a survivors’ parade and awards ceremony.
The grant prize is two roundtrip air tickets on American Airlines/American Eagle to any destination in the United States.
Volunteers are needed for the pre-race and race day events. The race is a USATF certified 5 kilometer course. The 5K women’s and co-ed run will timed and recorded.
