MUKILTEO — The specially painted Boeing 747-8 freighter with Seattle Seahawks livery will be on display at a rally Saturday at the Future of Flight.
Seahawks fans and aviation enthusiasts are invited to the rally at the nonprofit at 8415 Paine Field Blvd. The aircraft will be on display from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fans should arrive by 11:30 a.m. for the rally. Everyone is welcome to file past the Spirit of 12s freighter for pictures.
Admission to the event is free. Regular rates apply for the Boeing tour.
The plane was painted earlier this week to honor the Seahawks, who take on the Denver Broncos Sunday in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The idea to paint the plane with the team’s logo and colors came up during a meeting at Boeing after the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers to advance to the big game.
Boeing’s engineering and painting crews said it could be done, and the plane was worked into the painting schedule.
A crew flew the plane this week across the state in a flight pattern in the shape of the number 12 in honor of the 12th Man.
