The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council’s Reader’s Theater presents “Old Flame in the Boiler Room” by George Savage Monday, April 16 at the Shoreline Center.
Based on the early days of phone solicitation, “Old Flame in the Boiler Room” draws the audience away from a familiar world full of caller IDs that help screen them. George Savage draws on his experience as a phone solicitor for a memorable Seattle area group called The King County Mounted Police Rodeo, which posed as a charity but actually only benefited itself. His script is an interesting portrayal of the roots of a colossal industry which still continues to ring phones everywhere today.
The evening concludes with a post-play discussion with the playwright and cast. Admission to the reading is free and refreshments will be served.
