State Rep. Mark Ericks, D-Bothell, who represents Brier and most of Mountlake Terrace, is running for reelection in November.
Ericks announced last week that he is hosting a kick-off party on June 1. The event is open to the public and set for 6-8 p.m. at the Country Village, Courtyard Hall in Bothell.
Ericks filed with the state Public Disclosure Commission, which is required shortly after a candidate makes their intention to run public or starts raising money to campaign, whichever comes first. As of last week, no one has filed with the commission to run against Ericks, according to the commission’s Web site.
The 1st District includes areas of Bothell, Brier, Mountlake Terrace, Woodinville and unincorporated Snohomish County to the south and west of Mill Creek.
Elected to his first term in 2004, Ericks currently is vice chair of the financial institutions and insurance committee and a member of the capitol budget committee, technology, energy and communications committee and house finance committee.
“The gains I have fought for in education, health care, traffic improvements and safer communities have been met with positive feedback from the neighborhoods I represent. I am eager to serve the people of the first legislative district for another two years,” Ericks said.
