Republican Women’s Club meets June 11

State Sen. Val Stevens will speak at the Snohomish County Republican Women’s Club on Thursday, June 11.

Sen. Stevens is from the 10th Legislative District. She will update the club on the last session of the Washington State Legislature.

The Snohomish County Republican Woman’s Club meets the second Thursday of each month from September through June. Meetings take place at 11 a.m. at Shawn O’Donnale’s Restaurant at 122 128th St. SE in Everett.

Admission is free. A buffet lunch will be available at noon for $13.00.

Teen gaming night at library

Local teens are invited to get their game on after hours at the Mill Creek Library on June 19 for Friday Evening Gaming.

The library will be open after hours for teens ages 12 to 18. Teens are invited to play with a Wii or Rock Band that the library recently purchased from the Fred Meyer Fund.

Mill Creek Library will provide snacks and pizza from Papa John’s Pizza.

Regular library services like checkout will not be available during this time.

Additional Friday Evening Gaming nights will be held July 16 and Aug. 21.

The event is funded by the Friends of the Mill Creek Library.

Learn about salmon habitat

Snohomish County Parks and Recreation and the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation invite community members to “Salmon and Salmon Habitat,” on Thursday, June 11.

The presentation will discuss the important role people play in protecting salmon habitats and restoring urban and rural streams.

Tom Murdoch, who has worked in Snohomish County streams for 30 years, will speak about salmon issues and salmon habitat. After the lecture, there will be a walk along North Creek.

The class will include a handout of stream care guidelines everyone can follow to keep local streams clean and healthy.

Tickets are $5 for members of the Adopt-A-Stream Foundation and $7 for non-members.

The event will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Northwest Stream Center Auditorium at Snohomish County’s McCollum Park. The park is located at 600 128th St. SE in Everett.

Annual golf classic

The South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Golf Classic on June 15 at the acclaimed Golf Club at Echo Falls.

Local golfers and the business community will compete for an opportunity to win two new cars for a hole-in-one, provided by Acura of Lynnwood and Jaguar of Seattle.

Space is limited, so interested community members should register with four other people as soon as possible. Registration includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, a covered golf cart, two raffle tickets and the awards banquet. The putting green contest and registration begins at noon on June 15, followed a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Awards banquet and raffle to follow at 6 p.m.
