LYNNWOOD — Rare and classic cars are just some of the attractions of the Rotary Club of Alderwood-Terrace’s fifth annual Concours d’Elegance at The Wood. The event is being held 1 to 5 p.m. June 23 at the Lynnwood Golf Course.
The free show has grown over the years from a 10-car exhibit in event chair Kim Pierce’s driveway to taking over the course’s 18th fairway.
New features this year include ongoing fashion shows featuring two local designers: Mindy Spicer of Edmonds, with her Lucy Loves Ethel collections, and Carlisia Minnis, a Seattle designer heading Mac Fashion House. Three shows will be presented throughout the day.
The designers will have a boutique open at the event.
“A lot of car shows now have fashion shows,” Pierce said. “There are a lot of women at car shows. We are giving them a chance to see and shop for fashion.”
Wine and beer tasting is another new addition to the show. Vintages from a dozen wineries including Hightower, Chandler Reach and Eight Bells along with selections from local brewers Big E Ales and Elysian Brewing Co. will be available.
Additionally bottles of the sampled wines will be on sale at the event. Proceeds from that will go to the club’s foundation.
Cars, the main event of the show, include 60 handpicked sports and muscle cars from collections across the country.
A classic Rolls Royce from the LeMay Museum in Tacoma is being specially released for the show. The LeMay family also is entering a 1920s-era Pierce.
More than 2,000 people are expected to attend. Chief judge for the show is Tom Bryant, editor emeritus of Road &Track Magazine.
Admission is free to the event, whose title sponsor is Harris Private Bank, part of BMO Financial Group. The Rotarians are accepting sponsorships and donations for the club’s foundation before and during the event.
Attendees will be asked to vote for The People’s Choice Car Award. Every dollar donated is a vote. The car to raise the most money wins.
VIP passes are available for $100 giving the barer access to the VIP tent with wine and appetizers along with access to car owners.
And wine passes are $50 for a dozen tastes.
