The Lynnwood football team is showing signs of life.

After being limited to one touchdown two weeks ago against Mariner, the Royals rebounded with their second best offensive showing of the season, scoring three touchdowns in a 36-20 loss to 3A rival Shorecrest in a Western Conference South Division game Oct. 20 at Shoreline Stadium.

Junior quarterback Andrew Beatty connected on a 48-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Samer Abou-Zaki in the first quarter to cut the Scots’ lead to 7-6. Shorecrest bounced back scoring four unanswered touchdowns over the next three quarters to boost the lead to 33-6 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.

Beatty then connected on a 18-yard touchdown pass to Abou-Zaki and then Abou-Zaki took a turn throwing a 12-yard scoring strike to running back Oliver Woodson.

Abou-Zaki caught four passes for 100 yards and two TDs.

Shorecrest quarterback Pierce Rankin competed 9 of 19 passes for 183 yards and four touchdowns, and Grady Small rushed for 121 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.

Lynnwood (0-8 in the league, 0-8 overall) travels to Stanwood (5-3, 5-3) for a 7 p.m. non-conference game tonight (Friday, Oct. 27).
