Kids with fireworks start blaze in Edmonds
Fireworks started a fire that caused $30,000 in damage to a house in Edmonds.
The fire was ignited by a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old who found the fountain firework while the family was setting up for a garage sale Aug. 26, Snohomish Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
Crews put out the fire at the one-story house, in the 8200 block of Sierra Drive.
The house had damage on a wall and ceiling, Hynes said.
A firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation, but he was able to return to work afterward, Hynes said.
EDMONDS
Aug. 27: Assault. 9400 block of 244th St. SW. A man woke up early in the morning to the sound of windows breaking and banging at his front door. He answered the door and was punched in the face twice by a masked person.
Aug. 24: The complainant reported that someone threw a small glass jar at a car parked in front of a home. His mother was in the car at the time and was hit by the jar.
Aug. 23: Theft. 22800 block of 100th Ave. W. Someone shoplifted more than $1,041 worth of liquor from a store.
LYNNWOOD
Aug. 25: Assault. 19800 block of 44th Ave. W. A 46-year-old woman is suspected of assaulting another woman for no reason.
Aug. 27: Incident. 5000 block of 168th St. SW. The caller reported finding an injured cat and taking it to a veterinary hospital.
Aug. 27: Threats. 4400 block of 211th St. SW. A man threatened to punch a woman in the face and to harass her until she pays him $1,000.
Aug. 23: Malicious mischief. 5100 block of 176th St. SW. Someone used black ink to write on a vehicle: “this is a nice car.”
MOUNTLAKE TERRACE
Aug. 17: Domestic. 22400 block of 59th Place W. A man assaulted a 35-year-old woman and fled the scene on foot. The Edmonds police dog unit responded to track the suspects and officers came from the cities of Edmonds, Lynnwood and Brier to help. The suspect was found and taken to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds because was bitten by the police dog. He was moved to Snohomish County Jail and booked for second degree domestic assault.
FIRE DISTRICT 1
Aug. 20: Tree on road. 5300 block of 133rd St. SW north of Lynnwood. Firefighters used power tools to clear a large tree from the roadway about 6 a.m.
Aug. 19: Garage fire. 15100 block of 62nd Ave. W north of Edmonds. Firefighters put out a fire in the garage of a two-sotry home. The fire was contained to the garage but there was heavy smoke damage through the house. No one was injured and damages are estimated at $80,000. The cause is undetermined.
Aug. 18: Brush fire. 3330 block of 164th St. SW north of Lynnwood. Firefighters put out a brush fire at 6 a.m.
