Sawtell art now at MLT Library

The Mountlake Terrace Art Commission presents the Thomas A. Sawtell Exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library now through the end of June.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952, Thomas Sawtell progressed from a Kodak Brownie to a YashicaMat 124 medium format in high school. He has a BS in Marine Science from Evergreen State College, where he graduated in 1978 with a major in fisheries and aquaculture. He studied Black and White photography under an independent study program.

Sawtell was awarded second place in photography for the Legacy Habitat Series I: Breath Upon the face of the Water at last year’s Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show. “My Legacy Habitat Series aims to unify scientific and artistic interpretations of natural habitats that are critical to the survival of wildlife populations in the Pacific Northwest,” Sawtell said.

Sawtell has also exhibited at Autumn’s Framing Gallery in Edmonds, Shoreline Arts Festival, Eagle Cliff Store in Skamania County, The Mountaineers and Ballard Artist Coop in Seattle and at The Evergreen State College in Olympia.
