They are lovebirds just married. His eagle-eye mom is upstairs unpacking for a short stay. His puffed-up boss is expected any minute. You guessed it: disaster is around the corner.
Complications breed like rabbits in “No Sex Please, We’re British,” a runaway farce targeting British stuffed shirts. Cover-ups go haywire. Madcap scrambles snowball. Outrageous rules.
The script by Anthony Marriott and Alistair Foot serves director Alyson Soma ham and eggs, and Soma sees to it the Driftwood Players dish it out. The actors ham it up and top it off with egg on their faces. “No Sex” is a laugh-out-loud feast for grown-ups.
Seriously funny Terrence Boyd highlights as worrywart Brian Runnicles. Don’t miss this bundle-of-nerves as he pours gasoline on fires that need to be put out.
Mary Kay Voss and Steve Ruggles do a nice little flirting thing as Eleanor Hunter and Leslie Bromhead, the mom and banker boss. Their message: seniors fool around, too.
Boyd Morrison and Megan Castillo hold down the fort as the happy couple, Peter and Frances Hunter.
And a supporting cast of five rounds out the giggles and belly laughs.
The British accents are diction perfect. The energy level toward the finish sputters some, but what a finish: it is slam, bang, out-of-control madness. I think I saw the walls wobbling. Try it. You will like it.
Be advised: this is adult entertainment in good taste. Not recommended for kids.
