Larry Hanson, publisher of the Snohomish County Business Journal when it was launched in April 1998, had a dream of a countywide publication for the business community.
He envisioned it as a monthly report on the health of the local economy, what people in the business community were doing, new construction projects, financial trends and profiles of interesting businesses.
He believed the business journal would fill a need. He thought such a publication could go on for 20, 30, 40 years and more, knowing the need would always be there. He was right. The business journal has proven to be the right publication, at the right time, in the right niche.
The business magazine that began as The Herald Business Journal was renamed several years ago to reflect the geographic area we cover.
With this month’s issue, we’ve completed our first 10 years, producing more than 4,800 pages of Snohomish County business news and photos during that time, including our annual Business Women issue.
And, we’ve published more than 600 pages of statistical information and economic growth trends in our first nine issues of Market Facts, our annual economic profile of the county.
On this 10th anniversary, we’re also launching an updated Web site, at www.scbj.com. I’ll be writing a blog on Snohomish County business news for our Web site, our latest effort to provide you with more immediate news in between our monthly magazine issues.
Publisher Steve Hawes, General Manager Gary Hauff, SCBJ Assistant Editor Kimberly Hilden and I are dedicated to providing our readers with the best product possible.
We thank you for your great support.
