Leonard “Gil” Schaefer and Leonie Gibbons Schaefer of Brier celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this spring with a trip to Hawaii and this summer with a dinner at Seattle’s El Gaucho hosted by their family. Culminating a year of celebrations, the Schaefers will be taking a cruise with friends to the Mediterranean Sea in October.

The Schaefers met while attending Queen Anne High School in Seattle. The couple were married June 18, 1954 in Magnolia. After Gil served time in the army, they relocated from Magnolia to Greenwood and settled in Brier, where they raised their family and enjoyed neighborhood life.

In 1999, Leonie retired from Edmonds School District and Gil sold his business. The couple continue being busy with their family, the gardening club, NorthShore Senior Center, the Emblem Club, taking walks with their dog, and attending POPS concerts.

Well wishes and regards may be e-mailed to steve_schaefer@comcast.net.
