Foundation seeks sponsors for March auction
The STARS Foundation, a non profit that creates learning opportunities for students at Edmonds Elementary School, will host an auction March 10 at the Nile Country Club.
The group invites businesses to sponsor a table at the auction for $300 minimum. The table can be used for advertising or marketing. The bar is available for sponsorship for $1,200.
Donors will be recognized in the school newsletter and recognized publicly at the auction, which aims to have over 350 families present.

Resource Center hosts Marine Seminar
Those who wonder how pictures of sea creatures are taken at the bottom of the ocean and how underwater robots affect car design and operation cam get answers at the Northwest Regional Student Marine Technology seminar Feb. 17 at the Edmonds Homeschool Resource Center.
The event will bring teachers and students together to learn about underwater robotics and how a school program can be established.

EdCC program gives parents time to learn
In Edmonds Community College’s Family Literacy program, parents of children ages 1 to 5 can pursue their GED; improve their basic reading, writing and math skills and more. At the same time, their children participate in an educational program steps away.
Family Literacy supports the educational needs of parents who do not already have a high school diploma or GED and the educational needs of their young children. Tuition, child care, the $75 GED test fee and transportation costs are covered for qualified students.

Free tax help available now at Edmonds CC
Trained accounting student volunteers will prepare and e-file income tax returns for community members with incomes of less than $40,000 Feb. 13 to March 9 and April 3 to 13 in Mountlake Terrace Hall 212, Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
The tax help will be offered on a drop-in basis:
• 3-5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 13-March 8
• 1-5:30 p.m., Fridays, March 2-9
• 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays April 3-12
• 1-5:30 p.m., Fridays, April 6 and 13
No tax clinics will be held during spring break March 10-April 2. Community members may make an appointment to speak with a volunteer in Amharic, Indonesian, Russian, Tigrinya and Ukrainian.

Open house offers program information
Edmonds Community College will provide information about college programs and resources at an open house with two sessions 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 6-7:40 p.m. February 15 in Triton Union Building 202, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
The conference is for current and former Edmonds Community College students who are considering taking the next steps in their college career.
At the conference, students will learn about advising and enrollment services, financial aid and scholarships. They will find out more about university transfer degrees and college career training programs in business, health care, electronics and computers as well as meet faculty and staff and hear other students’ experiences.
