Jackson High School seeks Challenge Day
Community members can donate money to bring a “Challenge Day” to Jackson High School.
“Challenge Day” is a one-day workshop where youth, teachers, parents, administrators, counselors and members of the community participate in a series of games, activities, group discussions, icebreakers and trust-building exercises.
Participants learn how to break down the walls of separation and create respect and communication with their peers, teachers, parents and themselves.
“Challenge Day” believes that separation, isolation and loneliness are the root cause of a wide range of teen issues such as teasing, bullying, stereotyping, racism, violence, suicide, and the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, according to the company’s Web site.
For information, see www.challengeday.org or contact Lyn Lauzon at Jackson High School at 425-385-7178.
WASL sessions
inform parents
A WASL information session held this week at Jackson High School will be repeated at other high schools in the district.
The session answers questions about the WASL, including: Which graduating class must pass the WASL science test to graduate? What WASL information is recorded on student transcripts? What happens if a student passes two out of three or three out of four of the WASL sections? What subjects are tested on the WASL?
Future WASL evenings will be held Feb. 26 at Sequoia High School, Feb. 28 at Everett High School and March 1 at Cascade High School, all in Everett.
