The award-winning Shorewood High School Drill Team is hosting its annual Drill and Dance Competition at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Shorewood gym.

Up to 20 drill and dance teams will compete, providing an afternoon of performance. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students with an ASB card. Children under 5 years old are free.

Proceeds go toward offsetting the costs of competitions and travel to the state competition in March at the Yakima Sun Dome.

Speak out about Wash. Learns

A forum on Washington Learns will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Shoreline Center Auditorium, 18560 First Ave. NE in Shoreline.

Another forum will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Kenmore Junior High School Cafeteria, 20323 66th Ave. NE, Kenmore.

The 60-page report was released recently after 18 months of work by a panel appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire. It addresses education from early childhood through college and calls for a new funding structure for public education.

State representatives Ruth Kagi and Maralyn Chase and state senator Darlene Fairley will be on hand to answer questions and hear ideas and concerns about the proposal. The forums are co-sponsored by the Shoreline PTA.
