Living Voices event scheduled
Living Voices, a Seattle-based theater company which brings history to life on stage, presents its multi-media production about the fight for civil rights in America, The Right to Dream, 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18 in Triton Union Building 202 at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. The performance is open to the public and free.
Student leaders asked the college to bring the company to campus as part of Martin Luther King Jr. celebration events locally and the college’s lecture series after seeing the group perform at a leadership conference.
The presentation will be a mixture of theater, video and live interaction. Shown through the eyes of a young man coming of age as an African American in Mississippi during the 1950s and 1960s, the program shows the fight against prejudice.
