Art reception scheduled

The Shoreline PTA Council will be hosting the annual Reflections Artist Reception from 7-8:30 p.m. onWednesday, January 18th in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Center.

People can view a gallery and celebrate the creativity of original works of literature, music, photography, and visual arts by children from the entire Shoreline school district.

Finalists from this show will be submitted to the Washington State Reflections Program. Reflections is the cultural arts program of the National PTA.

King’s schedules winter carnival

Affordable fun for the entire family can be found at the King’s Kaper Winter Carnival, from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 in King’s Schools’ Mike Martin Gym, 330 N. 190th St. in Shoreline.

Sponsored by the King’s High School Class of 2006 to benefit graduation night festivities, there will be over 15 booths of classic games such as the dunk tank and cake walk plus new favorites like a gigantic inflatable slide and castle bounce house. Outback Steakhouse of North Seattle will be on site.

Meeting set re: club for disabled

The Washington Coalition of Citizens with disAbilities hosts a Transition Club for high school students with all types of disabilities. The club provides great opportunities to build leadership skills, learn about work, volunteer, explore college opportunities, meet new people, visit interesting places, and have fun.

Meetings are once a month. Social trips and gatherings are held in addition to regular meetings.Meetings are held at Shorewood High School, 17300 Fremont Avenue North, Shoreline, WA 98133 in room 118. Meetings run from 3-4:30 p.m. and the dates are as follows: Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 9 and April 20. Additional dates will be announced. Parent seminar scheduled

Lake Forest Park School PTA invites all interested community members to attend a free seminar on the topic of “Mentor Parenting” on Jan. 19 at 7:15 p.m. in the school library. Presenter Karen Harland, a licensed counselor, educator and parenting coach, will share tips for fostering independence and self-reliance in children.
