Kinderfest 2006
set for Jan. 28
Kinderfest 2006, Shoreline School District’s 11th annual event, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Ave. NE.
Kinderfest provides an opportunity for parents who will be enrolling their children in kindergarten for the 2006-2007 school year to gather information about the various kindergarten programs and services available.
Kindergarten registration for the 2006-2007 school year begins on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Parents can register their child at the school in their attendance area on Jan. 31 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Effective Feb. 1, the registration hours will be between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. any school day. Kindergarten registration packets now are available in all elementary buildings.
To be eligible to enroll for the 2006-2007 school year, a child must turn 5 on or before August 31 of the year they are entering school. Early entrance is an option for those who turn 5 between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31.

Student knitters
seek sponsors
Shorecrest High School students have been knitting up a storm, making scarves and other items for Teen Hope shelter in Shoreline.
Goods made during the “knit-a-thon” will be sent to a Shorecrest teacher, Siri Hulbert, who is working in Mexico with poor children.
A representative from the Shoreline Rotary, Robin Martin, will deliver the scarves on Feb. 10, but the project will be ongoing.

‘Chocolate Factory’ book recreated
Approximately 50 students and staff from Einstein Middle School in Shoreline are producing a “true-to-the-book” production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.
Playwright Richard R. George has kept the tone and tenor of the play authentic to the book. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4.
The play will be presented at the Shoreline Center Theater within the Shoreline Center Complex, 18560 First Ave. NE. in Shoreline.Â
Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door or at the Einstein Middle School office during lunch times. The school’s phone number 206-368-4730.
