First day of school is approaching
Students enrolled in the Edmonds School District will be back at school beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day.
EdCC Foundation hosts golf tourney
Join PGA club pro Keith Coleman at Edmonds Community College Foundation’s golf tournament Friday, Sept. 9 at Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo.
Coleman, a two-time winner of the Washington Open and the greens superintendent at Harbour Point, will give tips on his home course. As an Edmonds Community College alumnus, Coleman is lending his talent to help raise funds to support the college.
The golf tournament is one of the foundation’s key annual fund-raising events. Last year, more than 50 local businesses and 110 individual golfers contributed to the event and raised $35,000.
Registration for the tournament and the putting contest begin at 12:30 p.m. The tournament starts at 2 p.m. The cost is $175 per golfer. It includes 18 holes, cart, one string per team, refreshments, a steak or salmon dinner, give-aways and a team photo.
Students make college honor rolls
Western Washington University recently announced its spring quarter 2005 honor roll recipients. The following local students were recognized for achieving grades high enough to place them in the top 10 percent of their class. From Brier: Nicole Olsen and Andrea Squires; from Edmonds: Ian Davis, Serra Hagedorn, Brian Hutchinson, Michelle Juett, Tiana Roma; Lynnwood: Rose Agbalog, Cynthia Cobb, Tabetha Fuller, Ryan Hjorten, Christopher Howorth, Meghan Knudson, Esther Park, Gregory Varnau, Jennifer Yuodelis.
Edmonds resident Sun Shin was named to American University’s spring dean’s list for obtaining a 3.5 grade-point average or better during the semester. American University is located in Washington, D.C.
