Each local winner will receive a prize package of books and activities and an opportunity to read their story for broadcast on KCTS Television. First, second and third place winners in each of the four national grade levels will be announced in June.

Student wins recording contest

Shoreline Community College’s Seth Branum was one of 10 Seattle-area residents selected to participate in the Seattle Red Bull Music Lab April 27-May 1. As a DJ, Branum has experience at clubs and parties, but not much experience mixing and recording his own tracks, which he hoped to practice during the Red Bull Music Labs.

The labs, held in several cities in the United States, are specially designed five-day workshops created with the goal of teaching musicians of all levels and backgrounds to create and produce music.
