Shorewood drill team hosts event
The award-winning Shorewood High School Drill Team is hosting its annual Drill and Dance Competition at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 in the Shorewood gym. Up to 20 drill and dance teams will compete, providing an afternoon of outstanding performances. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students with ASB card and children younger than 5 years are free. Proceeds go toward offsetting the costs of competitions and travel to the state competition in March at the Yakima Sun Dome.
SCC offers music, theater events
The award-winning Shoreline Community College Jazz Ensemble joins the popular music troupe Funkngroove for an evening of contemporary jazz and popular music at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the campus theater. Dancing is encouraged. General admission is $7, $5 for seniors, students, faculty and staff, and $3 for SCC students with college ID and children 14 and younger.
The concert band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Shorecrest Performing Arts Center. General admission is $6, $4 for seniors, students, SCC faculty and staff, and $2 for SCC students with college ID and children 14 and younger.
The college also is presenting “Our Country’s Good” by Timberlake Wertenbaker at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1-5 and 7-8 in the Lobby Theater. The play is based on a true story of British military officers rehearsing and performing a play with convicts headed to Australia after the Revolutionary War.
General admission is $8, $7 for seniors, students, SCC faculty and staff, and $6 for SCC students with college ID and children 14 and younger. Call 206-546-4606 for tickets or purchase at the Cashier’s Office in FOSS or at the door.
Students inducted to Nat’l Honor Roll
Many local students were inducted into the spring 2004 National Honor Roll. This organization recognizes high-achieving high school and middle school students, and inducted students are then eligible for scholarships and awards.
The following students live in the Shoreline/Lake Forest Park area: Adam Bash, Saya Clancy, Allan Cushing, Emily Dahlgren, Araya Gobena, Karol Neavor, Alex Ogilvie, Liberty Hope Patos, Vitaliy Petruk, Adam Roberto, Nicholas Taylor, Riley Taylor and Anna Cornell Townes.
Room Nine open house scheduled
The Room Nine Community School invites parents of all K-8 students to attend one of the school’s Visiting Days in order to have their children’s names registered in the lottery drawing next spring. The last of the Visiting Days for 2004 is Dec. 8. Visiting Days will continue to be on the second Wednesday of the month in January, February and March.
Enrollment in The Room Nine Community School is open to all K-8 grade students in the Shoreline School District. It is currently housed at the Aldercrest Learning Center.
