Students wrap gifts for holidays

King’s High School cheerleaders will operate a holiday gift-wrapping service from 2 to 8 p.m. through Dec. 23 (except Mondays) next to Starbucks in the Aurora Village shopping center.

Donations are accepted and will be used to fund mission trips and cheer activities. Contact Laurie Shanks at 425-670-8692 for more information.

Seattle City Light’s Web site now shows ongoing current output from the solar modules at Meridian Park School. Anyone interested can visit the site to follow the results on cloudy and sunny days.

Gov. scholarship applications ready

Gov. Gary Locke recently announced that applications for the fourth year of the Washington State Governor’s Scholarship for Foster Youth are now available.

Locke established the program in 2001 to help children in state or federally recognized foster, group and kinship care enroll in and complete college in Washington state.

The scholarship program is funded by proceeds from the annual Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament and is managed by the Washington Education Foundation.

All applicants must be in state-recognized foster, group or kinship care (or have been until emancipation) and be current high school seniors who plan to graduate during the 2004-05 school year.

Additional applicant eligibility criteria can be found on the Washington Education Foundation’s Web site – www.waedfoundation.org (click on the Governor’s Scholarship link).

Applications can be downloaded from the Washington Education Foundation’s Web site or can be requested by calling 1-877-655-4097. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2005.

Kindergarten sign-up info available

Kinderfest 2005 will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Center, 18560 – 1st Ave. NE.

The Shoreline School District Kinderfest provides an opportunity for parents who will be enrolling their children in kindergarten for the 2005-06 school year to gather information about the various kindergarten programs and services available.

Kindergarten registration for the 2005-06 school year begins on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Parents can register their child at the school in their attendance area on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and effective Feb. 2 the registration hours will be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. any school day. Kindergarten registration packets will be available in all elementary buildings beginning Jan. 24.
