District reading open house

The Everett School District Special Services Department will hold an open house to discuss reading curriculum adoption.

The open house will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Aug. 6 at the Everett School District Special Services Offices, 202 Alder St.

The University of Washington at Bothell will hold an information session for elementary teacher certification from 1:30-4 p.m. on Aug. 24 in UW2 005, 18115 Campus Way NE in Bothell.

ACT registration forms due

Students who wish to take the Sept. 25 ACT test must have their registration forms postmarked by Aug. 20.

Registration fee for the test is $28.

Late registration forms must be postmarked between Aug. 21 and Sept. 3. Late forms will have an additional $17 fee.

SAT registration forms due

Students who wish to take the Oct. 9 SAT test must have their registration forms postmarked by Sept. 7.

Registration fee for the SAT is $29.50.

Late registration forms for the test must be postmarked by Sept. 15. Late forms will have an additional $20 fee.

Backpack drive for students

The Northshore School District will be accepting donations of school supplies through Aug. 6 as part of its Backpack for Kids drive.

The supplies will be assembled into backpacks and available for students in need. Families in need may contact the nurse at any Northshore school.

Checks can also be made payable to the Northshore Education Foundation, designated for Backpacks for Kids, for those wishing to make a monetary donation.
