Colleges earn Governor’s award

The University of Washington, Bothell and Cascadia Community College recently were honored by Gov. Gary Locke with the Governor’s Award for Organizational Learning and Growth for the success of the campus co-location design and construction, school officials said.

A ceremony took place May 3 in Lacey, where Locke presented the award.

Event to dedicate student sign work

Students at Cascadia Community College are scheduled to dedicate their artwork at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11 at the boardwalk near the campus wetlands.

Community members are welcome to attend the event.

The involved students have worked for 10 weeks to design permanent interpretive signs for the campus wetlands in an effort to educate visitors.

The paved trail borders 58 acres of wetlands on the University of Washington, Bothell and CCC campus.

The project was funded by the college’s innovation fund.
