Awards, coffee, queries at S’wood
The Shorewood High School PTA will award the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator awards at its meeting 7 p.m. Monday, March 8 in the school library. The meeting will be preceded at 6 p.m. by a Principal’s Coffee at which Principal John Green will take questions from parents.
I-728 forum with Shoreline officials
The Shoreline School District will host a community forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 in the Board Room at the Shoreline Center. The purpose for the forum is for community members to give input on the distribution of Initiative 728 funds in the Shoreline School District.
Money distribution is decided by the school board, and can include class size reduction, extended learning opportunities, professional development for educators, early childhood programs, and improvements for school buildings. The recommendation for these funds will be submitted to the Shoreline School Board of Directors at the April 5 regular board meeting.

Time Travel auction date set
Parents and staff at the Room Nine Journey School will have an auction themed “Time Travel” from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 13 in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 First Ave. NE.
The event includes a silent and live auction and a grand prize raffle drawing for a seven-day Holland America cruise for two to Alaska, Mexico, East Caribbean, West Caribbean or New England/Canada. The winner will have until Feb. 23, 2005 to use the certificate and must pay port fees and taxes. The winner does not need to be present to win. Cruise raffle tickets are $5, admission is free. S’wood drill team takes first place
The Shorewood High School Drill Team took first place in the combined Drill/Pom category at the WIAA Northwest District 1 Dance/Drill Championships Saturday, Feb. 28.
The district competition, held at Sehome High School in Bellingham, is a prelude to the Washington State competition March 19-20 in the Yakima Sun Dome. Teams must qualify at the district competition in order to go on to state. Shorewood qualified in both the Drill and Pom categories and will be competing in both at state.
Seniors eat, students entertain
Shorecrest High School Interact Club will host the 11th Annual Senior Citizens Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18 in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Center. An average of 50 to 100 seniors attend this annual event that includes entertainment provided by Shorecrest students. For more information, call 206-365-7108.
