Get a running start at Everett CC
Everett Community College will host an information session for high school juniors and seniors and parents interested in the Running Start program at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 and Feb. 25 in the Jackson Center on campus.
Running Start is a partnership program between colleges and high schools that allows high school juniors or seniors to take college-level courses and earn both high school and college credit, with free tuition for up to 18 credits. Students and parents interested in this program should contact their high school counselor as well as attend one of the information sessions. New director for
Northshore group
The Northshore Public Education Foundation (NPEF) and the school district recently named Diane Duranti as development director.
Duranti previously worked as a fundraiser for the foundation and as a classroom teacher. In her new position, Duranti will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing all fundraising programs for the Foundation.

Hollywood comes
to film festival
Cascadia Community College will host a Festival of Short Films from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Feb. 7 on campus.
The event will provide entertainment, insight and inspiration for movie enthusiasts. Stewart Stern (author of the “Rebel Without a Cause” screenplay), “X-Files” executive producer Bob Goodwin and other Hollywood insiders will present informative sessions ranging from effective storytelling to tips for raising money for film production.
In addition, short films by students from universities, community colleges and high schools from the Puget Sound region will be shown at the film festival. Awards will be provided for best film, best documentary, best animation, best high school film and best film voted by the audience. The city of Bothell TV station will air the winners on BCTV 21, officials said.

Cooking class
made for ‘tweens’
Northshore YMCA will have a Tween Basics interactive cooking class for kids ages 9-11 from 8 to 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at the YMCA building.

Snow closure adds days to calendar
Two additional days will be added onto the 2004 calendar due to the two-day snow closure Jan. 6-7, according to Everett School District officals. The last day of school will be June 17.
