Rogers earns district award

Jack Rogers was given the Grace Cole award during a reception Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Shoreline Center Auditorium.

The award, given only a handful of times by the school board, honors individuals for their “distinguished service, leadership and commitment to public education.”

Rogers has served in the district as an elementary teacher and as a central office administrator. Among Rogers’ accomplishments are: receiving the Metro Washington Association of School Administrators Community Leadership Award, earning Teacher of the Year for the District and also Teacher of the Year for the State of Washington, helping to create the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation and serving as one of its initial Board of Trustees, earning two Golden Acorn Awards.

To earn the district’s Grace Cole award, recipients must have “been a positive constructive force and change agent in public education in the Shoreline school community and/or the State of Washington; advocated projects, programs, and policies that have directly benefited students, staff, and members of the community; provided creative, consistent leadership in inspiring and motivating others to contribute to public education; and personally given time and energy to go over and beyond what is expected.”
