Nursing career day at UWB
University of Washington, Bothell will host a Nursing Career Advancement Day from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 on campus, 18225 Campus Way NE in Bothell.
Representatives from Washington State health care employers and educational institutions will be available to discuss nursing career and educational opportunities.
Participants include Children’s Hospital, Evergreen Healthcare, Group Health Cooperative, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, Seattle-King County Public Health, Stevens Hospital, Swedish Medical Center, Valley General Hospital, Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle University, UW Bothell and UW Seattle Schools of Nursing.

EvCC earns award for joint efforts
Everett Community College and Bellingham Technical College’s Northwest Radiologic Technology Consortium recently earned a “Good Idea” award from the Washington State’s Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board (WTECB).
The coordinating board recognized the achievements of the participating health care employers (Providence, Everett Clinic, and other local health care providers) and the six community and technical colleges (including Edmonds, Skagit, Whatcom, and Peninsula) at their “Workforce Strategies 2003” state conference on Oct. 7.
The Radiologic Technician Training Program is a collaborative effort to train displaced workers to be radiology technicians. There are currently 30 students enrolled in the program.

Concert to benefit TeenHope
A concert benefiting Teen Hope, a non-profit organization that provides emergency overnight shelters for teens in King County, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the Public Facilities District (previously known as Puget Sound Christian College), located at 411 4th Ave. N. in Edmonds.
International recording artist, guitarist, and singer Enrique Henao will perform at the event. Admission to the concert is $20, is tax deductible and all proceeds benefit Teen Hope.
