The SmileMobile is on its way
The Edmonds School District will be sending the SmileMobile, a traveling dental program sponsored by the Washington Dental Service, to visit Cedar Valley Community School Oct. 20-24.
The mission of the SmileMobile is to treat children without access to dental care. The SmileMobile also is equipped to treat disabled children. Those who are eligible for the program can receive services ranging from cleanings to full root canal work.
To be eligible for the program, students must be: 13-years-old or younger; and family income must be less than 200 percent of poverty level (about $30,000 for a family of four), or qualify for free/reduced lunches.
You do not need to be a student in the Edmonds School District to participate. To register for the service, call the school at 425-670-7390.
EdCC Brown Bag lecture scheduled
Edmonds Community College will have a Brown Bag Lecture from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the Triton Union Building 202 on campus. The event will feature Ines Talamantez, Mescalero Apache, a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University. Talamantez will explore Native American Religious Studies and colonization and decolonization.

WASL information meeting scheduled
Parents and community members are invited to an informational meeting concerning the Edmonds School District’s WASL scores from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the Board Room at the Edmonds School District Educational Services Center, 20420 68th Ave. W in Lynnwood.
District assessment manager Nancy Katims will explain what the WASL measures, how it compares to other assessments, what the results mean, and how results are used. A question and answer time will be held at the end of the meeting.
